Life & Performance Under Pressure
Life can demand a great deal of us. Responsibility, uncertainty, difficult decisions and sustained pressure can affect how we think, feel, perform and relate to the people around us.

Performing well without losing yourself
Pressure changes how we think and respond.
Under pressure, attention can narrow, decisions become harder and familiar ways of coping may stop working as well. The aim isn’t to eliminate pressure, but to understand how you respond to it and develop greater flexibility when it matters.

An enduring interest in performance under pressure
My interest in how people perform under pressure goes back to my early training in psychology. My Honours research examined factors affecting performance in skydivers, bringing together psychological science with my own life experiences, including military service and skydiving.
That interest has stayed with me throughout my work as a psychologist: how people think, respond and perform when demands are high, and how they can function effectively without losing sight of themselves or the life around them.
