Couples & Relationships

Relationships can become places of conflict, distance or loneliness, even when both people still care deeply about each other. Therapy can help you understand what is happening between you and find a different way forward.

Understand each other differently.

There is a world of difference between seeing what someone is experiencing and seeing the person who is experiencing it.
Relationships can change when partners begin to understand not only what the other person does, but what matters to them, what they fear, what they need and what happens beneath the reactions that have become so familiar.

from conflict to collaboration to connection

Move from fighting each other to working on the problem together.

When relationships are under strain, it is easy to become caught in patterns of pursuing, withdrawing, defending, criticising or trying to prove who is right.
Couples therapy is not about deciding who is right or taking sides. We work to understand the pattern you have become caught in, what happens for each of you within it, and how you can begin responding differently to each other.

Approach / methods

Evidence-based relationship therapy, applied to your relationship.

My work with couples has been shaped particularly by Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy for couples.
These approaches provide useful frameworks, but your relationship is not a formula. The work is tailored to the two people in front of me and the particular relationship you have built together.

You don’t have to wait until the relationship is broken.

Whether you are dealing with recurring conflict, disconnection, trust, intimacy, a major transition or simply know that something between you needs attention, we can start by understanding what is happening between you.
